How to Finish Soft Concrete

Soft concrete tests below 3000 PSI and below 4 on the MOHS scale. Soft concrete floors are very porous. When grinding soft concrete, there will be a very high rate of material removal.  Diamond tools tend to wear very quickly when grinding soft concrete, so selecting a hard-bonded diamond is paramount to maintaining tool life.

Soft Concrete Floor Finishing Process if Exposing Aggregate

1. 30 Grit Metal
Note: Skip this step if the floor doesn't have topical curing chemicals.

2. 50 grit medium BSD Polishing Diamond or medium Premium 8 Segment Diamond

3. 100 grit medium BSD Polishing Diamond or medium Premium 8 Segment Diamond

4. Densify

5. 400 grit BSD Polishing Diamond

6. 800 grit Blue Star Diamond Dry Resin

7. 1500 grit Blue Star Diamond Dry Resin

8. Burnishing Pads

Soft Concrete Floor Finishing Process if Exposing "Salt and Pepper"

1. 60/80 Grit Metal

2. 100 grit medium BSD Polishing Diamond or medium Premium 8 Segment Diamond

3. Densify

4. 400 grit BSD Polishing Diamond

5. 800 grit Blue Star Diamond Dry Resin

6. 1500 grit Blue Star Diamond Dry Resin

7. Burnishing Pads
